A sketch of one of the new Daleks I did a while ago. I figured I might as well post it here. I did a few others but this was the first one.

** Quite some time ago I posted lots of pictures drawn in MS Paint. I may start trying to do sketches like the above one on a regular basis to post. We’ll see. **

Dethklok!! DETHKLOK!!

September 25, 2009

** I did have a picture to go along with this post, but for some unknown reason I couldn’t upload it. So just, um, imagine it, kay guys?**

Metalocalypse is a series of shorts on Adult Swim about a fictional metal band called Dethklok. Dethklok are the most famous band in the world, and although they are awesome musicians they are all absolute tards.

The frontman is Nathan Explosion, the guitarists are Skwisgar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth, the bassist is William Murderface and the drummer is Pickles. Episodes are about the ridiculous adventures of the band, and the Tribunal which monitors them and tries to make sure they don’t cause too much damage.

As an example of their adventures, one episode of the first season has them going to Finland to apologize for accidentally wrecking the country during their last tour. Hilarity ensues. In another episode they have to do something for charity to avoid some taxes, so they adopt a fat kid.

Most of the humour in the show is accessible even to non-metal fans. The metal humour is background stuff like Dimmu Burgers or the supermarket called Finntroll’s. The music in the show is actually of a really high quality, and as a fan of melodic death metal I really enjoy it. The song topics are fairly ridiculous, such as Murmaider (it’s about mermaid murder) and Hatredcopter.

There are currently two seasons, with the third airing in November. There are also two Dethalbums, the first of which I recommend and the second of which only just got released, so I’ve yet to pick it up.

I really like this show, and I think everyone should watch it. Even if only for the episode where Murderface plays his bass…er…hands-free.

** Nathan: But I have to say, if the fans are out there after listening… you know, we always say a lot of stuff like, you know, we hate you, go die, you know…
Murderface: And we mean it!
Toki: Yeah, we means it!
Nathan: …Go eat glass…But the truth is- actually, guys, the truth is we do mean it. **

This is my BOOMSTICK!

Just saw a channel 10 promo for the new season of Burn Notice. Yay!

The show is a lot of fun, with a ton of attitude and some awesome home-made spy tech. Not to mention Bruce FUCKING Campbell.

So watch it.

GO! is a new Australian channel which seems to air only programs that channel 9 doesn’t run anymore.

Already, this channel is far better than channel 9.

So, execs at 9, fucking what the hell are you doing? You suck.

Cliffhangers eh?

August 3, 2009

Fucking Supernatural.

Season 3 and Season 4 both have cliffhanger endings.

Season 3’s was probably my favourite moment of TV in years. Maybe ever.

Season 4’s, although still a good episode, ended in a frustrating place. There’s a fine line between an awesome cliffhanger and one that leaves the audience saying ‘Fuck no’.

I said Fuck No. Quite loudly. Then I said ‘I mean, no way’ because my mum was there. Not that she cared, I just thought it was a good thi- BACK TO THE POINT.

As for the plot of the episode, as I’ve said it was good, but it wasn’t what I’d been expecting.

Speaking of stuff I’d been expecting:

Since the start of season 3, I’ve been saying about how the writer’s were setting up Dean and Sam to face off against one another. That sort of happened in the previous ep, but not in the way I’d envisioned.

I’d speculated that with Dean becoming the Good super guy and Sam being made into a big Bad bastard, that the fight would be less punch kick stab and more super magic demon angel powers.

I’d also expected that Azazel’s plot with Sam was to turn him into a vessel for Lucifer to possess, which seems unlikely now, so I’ll just say it would have made for a cool story arc and it’s too bad I’m probably wrong.

So anyway, the cliffhanger annoyed me because it seemed superfluous and awkwardly positioned. I’m not saying having a cliffhanger was a bad idea, they can be great, but I’d have preferred it to have been implemented in a way which gave the fans a little something extra.

Also, Dexter season 3 is finally back next week. Hooray for murder.

** It seems to have become a standard element of my posts for there to be a note thingy like this at the end, so I thought I’d keep one in. FOR TRADITION. **
